Information about Thirteenth St. House
Barbara Evans is the founder, Administrator, and owner of the first house of Thirteenth Street House For Women, Inc. As a Revered, Chaplain, and a child of God I was given a vision by God through Isaiah 61; which in turn led to the first house being open in April 25, 2010 with a $5.00 couch. My vision is to help the women to transition from jail, prison, and treatment centers back into the community; helping them to heal physically, mentally, and spiritually. I want to empower these women to become self-sufficient by assisting them with employment opportunities and reconnecting with their families and to develop a deeper faith walk with God.
We provide food, shelter, and clothing for the women when they first arrive. Inspiration is 5 days a week with devotion @ 7:15am; which is taught by volunteers whom are Ministers, Chaplains, and Bible Study Teachers. Every 4th Sunday of the month we take all the residents and some staff and volunteers and we go out and worship with other churches that have donated to 13th St. House (through monetary or giving of their time) to show our love and gratitude.
